H’mong & Khmu ethnic villages

The Hmong and the Khmu ethnic minority are very present in northern Laos. These ethnic groups still live dressed in their traditional dress and respecting the customs and traditions that shape their lives for centuries.

Originally from the mountainous regions of southern China (especially Guizhou region), the Hmong, Mong or Hmong are also found today in northern Vietnam and Laos. They are also called Miao in Chinese, meaning "uncooked rice" and refers to long nomadic poorly integrated. The Hmong themselves are called "mountain".

The Khmu, meanwhile, generally inhabit low-lying land and are increasingly integrated into Lao society.
